Panini, Topps, Upper Deck, Leaf, Pokemon and others are coming out strong in January 2024. Check out what we believe are the boxes to chase this month. All products and release dates are subject to change.
2023 Panini Prizm Football (January 3, 2024)
Let’s cut to the chase. The hot product of the month will be the 2023 Panini Prizm Football. Originally scheduled to release in December 2023, we now have a firm release date of
January 3, 2024. Prizm Football is one of the Waxstat team’s all-time favorite product lines and this year’s edition is definitely not to be missed. The Hobby Box is fluctuating around $850-$910 USD per box. Each box has 12 packs and 12 cards per pack and on average, each Hobby Box will include 2 autographed cards, 10 numbered Prizms, 3 base Prizms, 1 Rookie Prizm, 24 Rookies and 5 inserts or parallels. If you plan to buy and rip, then keep an eye out on the constantly changing wax box market trends on Waxstat.com. If you are disciplined enough to buy and not open, then you may want to see when is the best time of the year to buy sealed football hobby boxes.
2023 Panini Immaculate UFC (January 5, 2024)
“Fighting is our DNA” – Dana White, UFC President
We can’t argue with Dana. Fighting is in this card collector’s DNA, and being headquartered in Las Vegas, NV, I have a special place in my heart for Mixed Martial Arts. With a January 5, 2024 release date, UFC fans can get a hold of the top-of-the-line MMA product in 2023 Panini Immaculate UFC and chase Bo Nickal and Raul Rosas rookie cards. At under $500, you’ll get 3 autographed cards and 2 memorabilia cards on average.
2023 Panini Absolute Football Hobby Box (January 17, 2024)
Let’s go Kaboom hunting! While the checklist hasn’t been released yet, it’s pretty safe to assume that the infamous Kaboom cards will be included in the 2023 Panini Absolute Football product line. Absolute hobby boxes are scheduled to drop on January 17 and priced around $422 USD. For the budget conscious, expect to see Absolute blaster boxes released around the same time. This will be a good chance to chase rare Kaboom cards of the 2023 rookie QB class such as C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young, Will Levis, Hendon Hooker and Anthony Richardson.
2023 Topps Stadium Club Baseball (January 24, 2024)
It is a little early for baseball season, but it’s a good start to the year with the 2023 edition of Topps Stadium Club. I really enjoyed ripping open 1992 Stadium Club as a kid, and I was just in awe of the quality that Topps put into the product. Nicely priced at around $125 USD, 2023 Topps Stadium Club will get the baseball junkie their fix until the 2024 Topps Series 1 Baseball Hobby Box releases on February 14, 2024.
2023-24 Panini Donruss Basketball (January 24, 2024)
Calling all Victor Wembanyama fans! 2023-24 Panini Donruss Basketball is dropping on January 24. We consider the annual Donruss flagship line a great quality mid-tier product to attract all basketball trading card fans. I know I’ll be excited to chase the Wemby and Brandin Podziemski Downtown cards on January 24.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Paldean Fates Elite Trainer Box (January 26, 2024)
Not everything is about chasing Downtowns and Kaboom cards. Sometimes it’s chasing that shiny Charizard. On January 26, 2024, Pokemon fans will rejoice in the release of Scarlet & Violet Paldean Fates Elite Trainer Boxes. At less than $50 per ETB, it will be a fun rip for all ages – and you never know what shiny card you’ll get.
2023-24 Panini Prizm Premier League Soccer Hobby Box (January 31, 2024)
January will end the month strong with the annual Premier League Soccer Prizm edition that is scheduled for release on January 31, 2024. Early pricing indicates that the hobby box will be priced around $300 USD. Luckily for the Prizm line, there will be multiple entry points such as retail megas, blasters, hangers, fat packs and gravity feed packs for collectors of all budgets.
