The ice is melting, the weather is getting a little warmer and the days are getting a little longer… Oh wait! I’m not in the Southern Hemisphere. I’m in the dry desert of Las Vegas and September means that my days of 100F+ temperatures are finally coming to end. My air conditioner bill can be forgotten until next Spring.
Now that we northerners are getting into the Autumn months, we can get back to our cold weather routine: wake up, card time, eat, school/work, card time, eat, card time and sleep. Yay!
But with the fall months here, it doesn’t mean that the folks at Topps, Panini, Upper Deck and more are slowing down. Here are my top 5 releases to look out for the month of September 2024:
2024 Bowman Chrome Baseball Hobby Box (Release Date: September 11, 2024)
The 2024 Major League Baseball season is coming to end, but the 2024 Topps Product Releases are not slowing down. The ever popular Bowman Chrome Baseball is coming to your local card shop in two hobby versions on September 11, 2024:
Both boxes come with autographs with the Hobby Box containing 2 autographs and the HTA Choice box containing 3 autographs with the possibility of hitting the HTA Exclusive Autograph parallels in the latter. Not a bad deal for at $264 and $278 respectively – especially for those that are chasing Elly De La Cruz and Paul Skenes rookie cards and autographs.
2024 Panini Score Football Hobby Box (Release Date: September 11, 2024)
September means American Football and Panini starts off the 2024 NFL football season with the Score product line. It’s a low end set, but it contains 4 autographs per hobby box (on average). Getting 4 autographs from a hobby box for less than $200 is pretty generous by Panini America, and you’re getting a chance to get big hits from stars of present day such as Aiden Hutchinson, Trevor Lawrence and Justin Herbert, but it’s loaded with autos of NFL Legends like Bo Jackson, Charles Haley, Barry Sanders and Payton Manning.
For a cheap hobby rip with 4 autos and a bunch of inserts and base cards, this is one of the best valued products in the 2024 Football Cards Release Calendar and the 2024 Panini Release Calendar.
2023 Topps Motif Football Hobby Box (Release Date: September 11, 2024)
Topps is taking advantage of the massage NFL early season hype, and they’re dropping their high-end Motiff Football product line on September 11, 2024. This is only a few days after Topps dropped their 2023 Topps Composite Football Hobby Box. Motif is stacked with 2023 NFL Rookies and their exclusive rookie autographs like CJ Stroud, Will Levis and Bryce Young, but you can also hit legend autographs from the likes of Rob Gronkowski, Randy Moss, Ray Lewis and Eli Manning. Don’t expect that this new product line will come cheap. Waxstat has tracked Motiff between $1799-$2199 over the past 30 days, a far cry from the low end 2024 Panini Score Football product.
2023-24 Panini Impeccable Basketball Hobby Box (Release Date: September 18. 2024)
This is your friendly, high-end basketball product alert for all Victor Wembenyama collectors! 2023-24 Impeccable Basketball Hobby is here, and it’s adequately priced for the big spenders at $3199 per hobby box. There will be a few Wemby chases here including the Logoman Rookie /1 card, but no autographs… you know why.
If you’re an autograph PC’er, you’ll get the chance to hit autos from Steph Curry, Dr. J. Shaq, Larry Bird and Magic. Each hobby box will contain 1 pack per box with 9 cards per pack. The box break (on average) will be 5 autographs, 3 base/parallels and 1 special insert. I wouldn’t sleep on the Impeccable release, but for those that skip out on this product, we still have a few high end Wemby product chases from Panini’s 2023-24 basketball release calendar.
2024 Upper Deck Portfolio Golf Hobby Box (Release Date: September 25, 2024)
Now that my days are getting shorter, the likelihood of me getting any kind of golf before the end of the day is low. My days of hitting the range after work or getting a quick 9 is all about done for 2024, and now I have to battle the crowds on the weekend. So with all my new free time, I can continue to chase my golf heroes with 2024 Upper Deck Portfolio Golf Hobby Box, one of the products from the 2024 Golf Cards Release Calendar and 2024 Upper Deck Release Calendar.
Portfolio Golf will drop on September 25, 2024 and is expected to hit market around $115 per hobby box. It’ll contain 8 packs per box with 8 cards per pack. On average, you’ll hit 1 autograph or memorabilia card, 3 serial-numbered insert cards, and 4 Chromium Technology cards. The early sell sheets from Upper Deck have autographs from Greg Norman, Colin Morikawa, Tony Finau and the GOAT – Tiger Woods.
