As the first major Soccer release by Panini in some time, 2021-22 Donruss Road to Qatar has been a long time coming. Collectors have been wetting their appetite with a variety of Topps releases since the last Panini product, 2020-21 Chronicles Soccer, came out earlier this year. And what a perfect product this is with the highly anticipated Soccer World Cup due to kick off in Qatar in just under a year’s time on 21st November 2022. Between now and then there will be an armada of qualifying matches, which will signal the emergence of many players both young and old into the international spotlight.
With the World Cup only being run once every four years, the chance to pick up rookie cards of potential future superstars is an opportunity most collectors wont want to pass up. Whilst the set design is fairly basic, as is traditionally the approach taken for the low end Donruss Soccer, the addition of the Kaboom insert really increases the appeal of the product to a variety of collectors. It also ensures that the product holds it’s value in the long term as some of the biggest hits won’t be reliant upon potential redemptions.
